Information for medical & GP visit card patients.

Bellview Clinic welcomes patients with HSE medical and GP visit cards. Below is an overview of the cards we accept and the services not covered under HSE arrangements.

Cards we accept

General Medical Card

Covers GP consultations, approved medicines and a range of HSE-funded services for eligible patients.

Doctor Visit Card

Provides free GP visits. Prescribed medications and other services are not covered under this card.

Under 8 Card

Free GP care for all children under the age of 8, including assessments and acute illness consultations.

Over 70s Card

Free GP care for patients aged 70 and over, including chronic disease management where applicable.

Services not covered by Medical/GP Visit Card

Your Medical/GP Visit Card entitles you to a range of services from your General Practitioner which are determined by the HSE and the Department of Health, for which the doctor receives payment from the State. There are, however, a number of additional services provided by many General Practitioners which are not covered by the agreement between the State and General Practitioners.

The most commonly requested services not covered by Medical/GP Visit Card are listed below. If you require any of these services, please consult with the practice staff to see if they are available and what arrangements are in place for the provision of such services.

  • Phlebotomy Services (Routine Blood Tests)
  • Warfarin Monitoring
  • Women's and Men's health clinics
  • Dressings
  • Travel Vaccinations
  • Pre-Employment Medicals
  • Insurance medicals/reports
  • Medical examinations for legal purposes
  • Sports medicals/reports
  • Examinations relating to fitness to drive
  • Passport/Identity reports
  • Crèche reports/School attendance notes/certificates
  • Certificates/letters in support of applications for services under the Social Welfare Acts
  • Utilities reports/letters
  • Preventative Services (i.e. Health checks/Screening services)
  • Therapeutic Counselling
